You have all heard about the global warming and the horrible effects of greenhouse gases on our Earth. You know we have to step up to stop these things from harming our nature. But you just don’t know how to help stop these horrible effects. Well, you have come to the right place to find your answers. There are simple, small things that you can, which will help our Earth in the long run. These simple things don’t cost that much nor do they affect your lifestyle drastically. Here are some things that you can do around your house to be more “green”.
Reduce Your Shopping Bag
When shopping, it saves energy and waste to use a reusable bag instead of accepting a disposable one in each shop. Waste not only discharges CO2 and methane into the atmosphere, it can also pollute the air, groundwater and soil.
Most products we buy cause greenhouse gas emissions in one or another way, e.g. during production and distribution. By taking your lunch in a reusable lunch box instead of a disposable one, you save the energy needed to produce new lunch boxes.
Plant a Tree
A single tree will absorb one ton of carbon dioxide over its lifetime. Shade provided by trees can also reduce your air conditioning bill by 10 to 15%.
Buying recycled paper products takes 70 to 90% less energy and it prevents the loss of forests worldwide.
Buy Local Grown Food
The average meal in the United States travels 1,200 miles from the farm to your plate. Buying locally will save fuel and keep money in your community.
Buy Fresh Not Frozen
Frozen food uses 10 times more energy to produce.
Support Local Farmer Markets
They reduce the amount of energy required to grow and transport the food to you by one fifth.
Organic soils capture and store carbon dioxide at much higher levels than soils from conventional farms.
Reduce the Use of Cars
Avoiding just 10 miles of driving every week would eliminate about 500 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions a year instead ride a bike or walk, you can get more exercise.
Return your organic waste where it belongs: the soil! Rather than sending banana peels, grass clipping, etc. to the municipal dump, start a compost pile instead. Compost makes your plants stronger and healthier, reducing the need for fertilizers and chemical pesticides.
Bye Bye Lights
Turn off lights and lamps when leaving the house, and even when leaving the room. Light a few healthy-burning candles, and savor the glow of your TV or computer, instead, in the evenings.
not using an appliance very often? Unplug it. It will save you energy and costs, and free up some outlet space, too.
reduce the toxins in your home. Use alternatives such as baking soda, lemon juice, vinegar, and other natural sources for your cleaning needs.
Those are just some of the ways that you can use to make a difference, but the most important thing you can do is help raise awareness about global warming. Because remember, “One action can cause a change reaction!” Now, you might be wondering why you have to do all those thing above, like why does that affect you? Why should you do it? Well, let me tell you that when you do those things, it will not only affect you, but it will affect everyone you know and love around you. Over the years, us, humans, have badly harmed our environment and Earth by all those harmful chemicals and gases that we put in the environment by polluting the air and water. Finally, the nature is catching up with us and is fed up of our chemicals. You hear about those rare-hurricanes and storms that aren’t rare anymore? Ever heard of the weird, once a 100 years weather patterns become more and more frequent? Well, that’s not just a coincident; it’s the Mother Nature saying that she fed up of these chemicals, which are harming her. She’s asking us to help stop these harmful effects from hurting her any farther and the only way we can help stop these global warming effects are by being more aware of what’s happening around and also, help prevent these effects get any worst than they already are. By being more ‘green’, we can take some of the harmful stuff back, we can’t take all of it back, but remember, “Every little bit counts!” So I want you to start cleaning up after yourself and for others around. Also, being aware of global warming and educate your loved ones around so together, we can help stop the chemicals from hurting Mother nature because if you hurt the nature, the nature is going to hurt since you depend on nature for your survival so in a way, we are helping ourselves by helping stop these harmful effects! In recent years, Param Pujya Shree Avichaldasji Maharaj had kept a padyatra to raise awareness about global warming. During these events Guruji travels with other bhakts and Santos to a place such as a pilgrimage. In the Kaival Dharm nature is proven to play a huge role in its knowledge.
